John Wyndham, and George W Bush: I think we should be told
We’re having a rather adversarial weekend on Facebook. One friend has a party-political argument raging on her profile, and another had the poets drawing battle lines the other day (I think I got tangled up in the webbing, but it was only my foot). I was going to write a poetry post, and counter some of the assumptions that were being flung about, and I still might. In the meantime, though, however behind the times I am, I think there is a more urgent question.
One had 4 superfluous last names,* and the other had a superfluous middle initial and a hovering father. One gave us Triffids, and the other gave us – er – something that was just like Triffids! In each case, the Triffids were not their best work, but made the most impact.
Could they by any chance be related? The public deserves to know.
