……………..Zorro………………………………………………Banksy

One moves through the night, saving the city from the greedy plutocrats, and the other… rides through the night, saving the city from the greedy plutocrats; one is like a cat, master of the landscape, able to leap and scale impossible buildings, and the other… is like a cat, master of the landscape, and is able to leap and scale impossible buildings! One has never been seen, except from a distance, while the populace eagerly seeks hints and traces of his true identity. The other has never been seen, except from a distance, and the populace eagerly seeks traces of his true identity. One is the sworn enemy of those who suppress the freedom of the people, and the other is the sworn enemy of those who suppress the freedom of the people. One leaves his distinctive mark, which brings comfort and joy to those who see it. The other leaves his distinctive mark, which brings comfort and joy to those who see it!

Could Banksy really be ZORRO??

I think we should be told.

Image of Zorro by kind permission of my new favourite comic strip artist, Francesco Francavilla; image of Banksy from a secret source.

    Dear Katy

You said that you were going to spend part of this week pondering the distinction between poetry and prose. How about this offering from Craig Raine in his essay Poetry Today?

‘The difference between singing (poetry) and talking (prose) is the difference between kissing and shaking hands.’
