3 Quarks Daily, a really excellent blog that I read and have often quoted from in the past, is running an award! And it is for the best Arts & Literature blog post of the past year! (Editing in: best POST, not best whole blog.) The judge is a poet, Robert Pinsky, and there is money at stake.
Is there an arts or literature post you read here that you thought was fabulous, special, hilarious, or in some other way not a waste of your time? Baroque in Hackney readers, you know what to do.
The rules:
- Please nominate your favorite blog entry by placing the URL for the blog post (the permalink) in the comments section of this post. You may also add a brief comment describing the entry and saying why you think it should win.
- Blog posts longer than 4,000 words are not eligible.
- We will accept poems and fiction, as well as book or art reviews, criticism, and other types of writing about arts or literature.
- Each person can only nominate one blog post.
- Entries must be in English.
- The editors of 3QD reserve the right to reject entries that we feel are not appropriate.
- The blog entry may not be more than a year old. In other words, it must have been written after February 21, 2009.
- You may also nominate your own entry from your own or a group blog (and we encourage you to).
- Guest columnists at 3 Quarks Daily are also eligible to be nominated, and may also nominate themselves if they wish.
- Nominations are limited to the first 200 entries.
As I write, they have something like 86 comments. Please note that it can be from the past year only. Go on – get choosing! There will be something in it for you if you nominate me and I win…

Dear Katy
I’ve just selected and posted ‘cycling:the healthy mode of transport’. If Robert Pinsky is a dedicated cyclist then I can only apologise!

Dear Katy
Good luck in your 3 Quarks Daily competition! My cracked crystal ball tells me that you will win a medal but I’m not yet sure whether it will be gold, silver or bronze. Hopefully all three!
Best wishes from Simon
